Goals of DARE West

To strengthen young people’s ability to make positive life choices with special emphasis on drug use. 

Achievement Objectives

• Students will explore their prior knowledge about drugs and identify what they still need to know.
• Students will identify positive things about themselves and build positive relationships to support them as they make safe choices about drug use.
• Students will be able to use a decision making process to help them make safe choices about drug use.
• Students will be able to distinguish between legal and illegal drugs.
• Students will be able to identify the difference between drug use and drug misuse.
• Students will have some knowledge of penalties and legal consequences of drug use and misuse.
• Students will be able to describe some of the consequences of drug misuse.
• Students will develop the ability to critically analyse media messages related to drug use.
